Commercial Mandatory Disclosure
As at 1st November 2010 a National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) Energy Star rating will need to be disclosed in any advertisement about the sale, lease or sub-lease of the building or area of the building if it has a net lettable area of at least 2,000 sqaure meters and if an area is for administration information based activities. Residential Mandatory Disclosure
In 2012 state governments will phase in disclosure of the energy efficiency of every residential house that is sold or leased, starting with a thermal performance assessment or home energy rating . The disclosure obligations will eventually include energy, water and waste to provide potential buyers and renters with information on how energy efficient their prospective home will be. State governments are yet to announce exactly what will be assessed or how it will be rated under the scheme but hope to come to an agreement by the end of 2010.
STEPS Assessments
HomeStar are pleased to announce we are now accredited to perform STEPS assessments.
More and more Victorian based councils are leading the way in promoting sustainable residential development by adopting the use of STEPS as the preferred method of environmentally sustainability assessment. The tool is used to assess residential planning applications to set clear environmental performance targets for residential development.
Current participating councils are:
Moreland City Council, City of Darebin, City of Port Phillip, City of Yarra, Hobsons Bay City Council, Knox City Council, Maribyrnong City Council and Nillumbik City Council.
