Commercial Assessments
  • Are you interested in rating your Commercial project design?  Furthermore do you wish to obtain an initial Green Star Rating

Using the AGBR assessment tools, we can provide assistance to you in completing your self assessment of the Green Star Credit Requirements for Green Star Accreditation in the following areas:

    • Office Design – new and refurbished
    • Office As Built – at construction completion
    • Office – existing building
    • Office Interiors
    • Health Care
    • Shopping Centres
    • Education

The HomeStar assessment is based on the 9 rating categories within Green Star.  These are:

    Management
Credits address the adoption of sustainable development principles from project conception through design, construction, commissioning, tuning and operation.  IEQ
Credits target environmental impact along with occupant wellbeing and performance by addressing the HVAC system, lighting, occupant comfort and pollutants.

    Energy

Credits target reduction of greenhouse emissions from building operation by addressing energy demand reduction, use efficiency, and generation from alternative sources.

    Transport
Credits reward the reduction of demand for individual cars by both discouraging car commuting and encouraging use of alternative transportation.

    Water
Credits address reduction of potable water through efficient design of building services, water reuse and substitution with other water sources (specifically rainwater).

    Materials
Credits targets resource consumption through material selection, reuse initiatives and efficient management practices.

    Land Use & Ecology
Credits address a project's impact on its immediate ecosystem, by discouraging degradation and encouraging restoration of flora and fauna.

    Emissions
Credits address point source pollution from buildings & building services to the atmosphere, watercourse, and local ecosystems.

    Innovation

Green Star seeks to reward marketplace innovation that fosters the industry's transition to sustainable building.

Should your project score at least 45 points based on the HomeStar initial assessment and you have a commitment to pursue Green Star certification, you will be eligible to submit your project with the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).

A project will be about 80% through the design phase before it has enough evidence to submit for Green Star - Office Design. Green Star - Office As Built and Green Star - Office Interiors are assessed after practical completion. For assessment under Green Star - Office Existing Building, the building must be in operation for at least 24 months.

Having proceeded with registration of your project with the GBCA, you will need to validate that the documentation that you have collated for all claimed Green Star credits adhere to all of the Compliance Requirements as outlined in the HomeStar Assessment form.

The GBCA will then commission a panel of third-party Certified Assessors to validate your documentation and your project will be notified of its score based on the recommendation of the assessment panel and on the innovation credit awarded by the GBCA. If your project is awarded with a Certified Rating, the project will receive a framed Certificate, award letter, marketing kit and relevant Green Star Logos from the GBCA.

Whilst the registration of your project with the GBCA is free, there is a third party assessment cost payable to the GBCA which is separate from the cost of HomeStar Services rendered.

Please refer to the GBCA website http://www.gbcaus.org/ for more information.
